Ramos moves
to 2-0!
May 4, 2008
Hector Ramos was in action this past Friday at the Home Depot
Center in Los Angeles, Calif against hometown native, Shawn
Waite.
Ramos had to work extra hard to earn the 2nd victory in his pro
career. Waite connected on a right hook (he was a southpaw)
after throwing a wild left hand that landed right on the chin and
put Ramos on the seat of his pants. Less than a minute later a
overhand left on the temple had Ramos back on the canvas.
After taking the full 8 count Ramos rose to his feet and Waite
went attack mode trying to finish of Ramos. A straight left hand by
Ramos put Waite on the canvas. Less than a minute later Ramos
connected with a solid right that had Waite back on the canvas
for the 2nd time in the round. The round came to an end and
both boxers returned to the corner still a bit dazed. The 2nd and
3rd rounds saw back and forth see-saw action with both boxers
having their moments. Going into the 4th round Ramos knew the
final round might decide the outcome. He gathered his thoughts
and had his best round of the fight using his footwork to easily
counter-punch the confused Waite.
The final round proved to be the deciding factor in the decision.
Ramos went on to win a unanimous but close decision over the
Los Angeles native, Shawn White. Scores were: 39-98, 38-37
twice.
NOTE: Ramos' hand injury will put him on the shelf for 6 weeks.
He is expected to be back in action in late June - early July.
