J. Ramos scores another win!
June 20, 2011
Jason Ramos followed his brothers (Cresencio Ramos) footsteps and scored another victory for Team Ramos this past weekend at the Joe
Souza's boxing gym in downtown San Antonio. Ramos scored an exciting toe-to-toe victory over Corpus Christi's (Baltazar BC) Abel Gonzales.
After throwing a few soft jabs to begin the bout it was non stop action for all three rounds. Both boxers had their moments with each one taking
turns connecting with solid combinations. Gonzales started the final round aggressive but faded towards the end and allowed Ramos to to pile
up some bout defining points. Abel Gonzales was equally deserving of the win due to his strong will and effort. It was an exciting bout..........for
those in attendance.
Ramos Boxing brings home three State Titles!
Ramon Cardenas & Christian Santibanez drops decision in finals.
June 9-12, 2011 - Midland, Tx
Our team continued their impressive showing at this years Junior Olympic State tournament. The Ramos Boxing coaches (Arturo Ramos Jr, III,
Cresencio Ramos, Pedro Contreras III and Victor Trevino Sr) served as team coaches for this years JO State team. I (Arturo III) personally am
not fit to serve as a team coach. Being that I experienced these tournaments as a boxer in the mid 90's I understand the hard work and
dedication it takes to win at the State level. Some judges who's only experience is Mike Tyson's 90's Nintendo version of boxing might not fully
understand the importance of ones honest judgement when it comes to scoring some of these bouts. I'm convinced due to the lack of actual
boxing experience and success some officials take for granted the positions they hold when they're judging and officiating some of these kids
bouts. If they knew how much dedication and hard work it takes to win at this level I'm sure some of the decisions at this years tournament might
have been a little different.
In order to be a good judge/official one must have either common sense, boxing experience or both. It is when officials lack both that coaches
such as myself wish they could get some of these judges/officials into the ring to show them first hand what a scoring punch FEELS like.
On day 1 of competition referee/judge, from the Dallas area caused one of our boxers (Kristen Leija) dreams to be shattered due to her lack of
knowledge or maybe just plain stupidity. Not sure. Although this official claimed to have "life long" history in the sport her mistakes and
cautions/warnings (total of 4 points)during the bout caused Leija to lose the bout. After meeting with the Chief of officials Martinez was removed
from her duties as a referee for the remainder of the tournament.
Pete Contreras Jr. - Although Contreras earned the Gold with his victory on Sunday, "Petey" decided to step it DOWN a notch and make the
bout interesting. In the end Petey walked away with his first Texas State title. C+ for Mr. Justin Bieber hair.
Victor Trevino Jr. - Gulf, Southwest, Border and South Tx all entered a boxer in Victor's division. When the Gulf boxer failed to show and
Border boxer was DQ'd on the scale Victors bout on Friday became a finals match up. Victor was matched up against 50+ bout veteran from
Southwest TX Javier Saverda in only his 9th bout. Victor's hard work ethic in the gym paid off in scoring the minor upset over the more
experienced boxer. A
Ramon Cardenas - After stopping his first opponent with a left hook to the body Ramon had to settle for Silver. His finals match up was against
uprising Gulf boxer, Marc Torres. In route to reaching the finals Torres scored victory over the #2 ranked boxer in the country, Hector Valdez
before meeting with Ramos boxer, Cardenas. It was a strategic bout that unlike the night before had score card totals in single digits. Four
judges agreed with the call and gave Torres the close decision. A
Cresencio Ramos - Ramos advanced to the National tournament by actually stepping it "down" a notch a giving the judges a style they were
looking for to win the State tournament. His first bout against Border opponent was a convincing 5-0 decision. In his finals bout Ramos defeated
Erik Dirkshiede of Houston by a 5-0 decision to advance to Mobile, Alabama. Ramos' experience and ability to adjust after the first round was a
key factor in the victory. A
Christian Santibanez - Santibanez skills were on display throughout the week. He advanced to the finals with two very convincing decision
victories over Gulf and Border boxers. In the finals Santibanez once again displayed the beauty of our sport by delivering a impressive
performance. Unfortunately for Santibanez the three judges agreed on who should get the victory and he ended up on the short end of the 3-2
decision.
Boxers travel to State Tournament

Boxers make drive enjoyable!
March 15, 2011
Our team made a trip to Eagle Pass for the first time in over 8 years. On the drive there I remembered exactly why I've stayed away from that
area. The drive sucks. It's not a long drive (125 miles) but it has to be one of most secluded boring sceneries in the country. You'll want to stay
away from this drive if you're ever depressed. Thanks to our boxers the drive back was much easier than the drive there. We took a total of
nine boxers, two (Juan "Romo" Gonzales & Joshua "Medium" Burcinega) who were hoping to make their amateur debuts but we unable to get a
bout.
Gregory Morales vs Luis Olvera (Loma Bonita - Eagle Pass) Goyo scored the first stoppage in his short career (4th bout) after the 3rd eight
count in the 2nd round. The game Olvera came out aggressive in the 2nd round but ran into a barrage of punches by the bigger Morales and
the bout was stopped. Goyo scored two standing 8 counts in the first. The bout was highlighted by the Master Officials failure to pick up the
score cards before the decision was read. The error was corrected after Goyo's hand was raised.
Victor Trevino Jr. vs Jonathan Garza (Loma Bonita - Eagle Pass) Victor was able to pull out the victory by connecting with the cleaner
scoring blows. Although Garza made it an interesting bout with his intensity Trevino stayed disciplined and racked up the points to come away
with the victory.
Christopher Martinez vs Humberto Gonzales (Rocky's Boxing Gym - Eagle Pass) Martinez has the "Celina Salazar/Jairo Martinez" effect
going for him. When you first see him at the weigh ins you see this little chubby kid with glasses who looks like he belongs at the science fair or
at home reading a Harry Potter book. Once inside the ring you see he belongs. His opponent Humberto Gonzales found out what everyone at
our gym already knows, looks are VERY deceiving when it comes to Martinez. It was a high energy bout where both boxers connected on solid
punches throughout the bout. Martinez's conditioning seemed to be the factor in scoring the win.
Ramon Cardenas and Joshua Burciaga were pre-matched but their opponents were a "no show". Both boxers received medals.
Other boxers who made the trip but were unable to get bouts: Jimmy Martinez, Juan "Romo" Gonzales, Christian Santibanez, Pete Contreras.
Juan & Joshua's family also traveled to Eagle Pass with the team.

Boxers cash in on hard work!
Pete Contreras III shines!
April 11, 2011
It's not often that external actions penetrate to the core of a being. When they do it's a humbling feeling. This years Junior Olympic tournament
will forever hold a special place in our teams boxing history. When our boxers began training for this years JO Tournament there was a different
vibe in the gym. Workouts were intense, boxers were focused more than ever before, our sparring sessions seemed like the actual bouts and
the bond among the group grew stronger as each workday went by. The beauty of the sport is the bond that's created among teammates
during preparation. That bond alone can get you addicted to the sweet science. When a coach can see his team be rewarded for the hard
work in the gym it's a special feeling. This year we entered a total of 9 boxers into the Junior Olympic tournament. They came back with 6 Gold
medals, 2 silver and 1 bronze. Our team also picked up a few other awards. Join us on Facebook to view full photo albums on tournament.
1st Place Team Trophy for Senior Division (15-16)
1st Place Team Trophy for Intermediate Division (13-14)
2nd Place Team Trophy for Bantam Division (9-10)
Outstanding Official of the Tournament - Julie Ramos
Outstanding Coach of the Tournament - Arturo Ramos, Cresencio Ramos, Pete Contreras, Victor Trevino, Jimmy Martinez
Gregorio "Goyo" Morales - was more impressive in his finals loss than his semi finals win. After scoring a win over Xavier Sanchez of
Atascosa he met up with 28 bout veteran Robert Garcia out of Beeville's Azteca Gym. Goyo in only his third bout made Garcia work hard to
earn the victory.
Julian Ramos - was an unopposed Champion for the 2nd year.
Pete Contreras III - If there was a team award for the most improved boxer it would have easily gone to Pete. He scored a very impressive
victory over Corpus Christi's Brandon Alonzo to advance to the finals. In the finals Pete would meet a familiar foe, Adolfo Alaniz also of Corpus.
Alaniz handed Pete a loss in last years finals tournament that has served as motivation ever since. Looking more determined that ever before
Pete stuck to his game plan and scored an RSC-3 to earn the victory and advance to the State Tournament.
Jason Ramos - dropped a very hard fought decision in the finals against Laredo's Albert Hernandez. Jason aggressive style and hard work
ethic will soon start paying off. Jason has been boxing less than one year. He's slowly coming into his own style and continues to make his
presence felt EVERY time he steps in the ring with someone.
Victor Trevino - with only one boxer in his division it was obvious that Victor had his eyes set on the State tournament long before any of us
did. Victor's newfound aggressive attitude and style helped him score the clear victory. With the victory he advances to the state tournament in
the 110 pound division.
Ramon Cardenas - I've shared one of my favorite quotes with Ramon on more than one ocassion. I heard Michael Jordan say it once and it
stuck with me. Jordan was talking about how he lives for taking that last second shot to win the game. He said, "I'm either going to make the
shot or miss it and the person guarding me has nothing to do with it". I've shared this quote with Ramon because he somewhat is in the same
position. Ramon's biggest problem is self-discipline to stay disciplined consistently....... In and out of the ring. Ramons natural given talent is
above and beyond many of the boxers at our gym. When he stays disciplined there's not much he CAN'T do. This weekend he did just that. His
results were a testament of what happens when a boxer decides to change for the better. Ramon scored two wins over two very tough
opponents out of Ann Wolfe's Boxing Gym, Robert Castro & Mike Yanez. Ramon advances to the State tournament for the 2nd year in a row.
Jimmy Martinez - has only been with our team for a few months. He's been impressive in sparring and training sessions with our team.
Martinez was able to avenge a loss to Jarred Saldana of San Marcos in his first outing but dropped a very close 3-2 decision to Gilbert
Rodriguez of Pharr. With the victory Rodriguez advanced to the finals and met up with Jimmy's teammate, Cresencio Ramos. Ramos went on
the claim the 125 pound division.
Cresencio Ramos Jr. - kicked off the tournament with an impressive victory over #3 ranked boxer in the nation Luis Castro. He would go on
and scored two more victories. One against Guillermo Flores of Angles boxing and advanced to state with a finals win over Gilbert Rodriquez.
This will be Cresencio's last year in the Junior Olympic division.
Christian Santibanez - finally lived up to his potential. After a "blah" win over Jessie Martinez of Victoria he stepped it up in the finals against
Austin's Francisco Martinez and scored a clear victory.
Now that the awards and medals have been handed out it's time to put them up on the wall and forget about them. Time to get back to the gym
and get to work.
Jason Ramos wins again!
Jason scores his 2nd victory in three weeks at the Randazzo Bros. Boxing show.
Jason Ramos scored a razor thin victory over Randazzo's Matt Huizar this weekend. This bout allowed Jason to qualify to compete in this years
Junior Olympic Tournament in Kingsviille, Tx. this coming week. Our LBC's rule states that any boxer which advances to the State Tournament
must have a minimum of five bouts. Jason Ramons upped his record to 3-2 with his latest victory.
J.O. Boxers test the waters!
"Goyo" has impressive showing in first outing.
March 13, 2010
Two weeks into our Junior Olympic preparations a few of our boxers decided to test their conditioning this weekend at a local boxing show at the
"Joe Souza's Boxing Gym" downtown, formally known as San Fernando. Despite a few rough spots all three came away with the "Dubya". Their
performance was a testament that there's still work to be done in the gym. "Goyo" showed he has a passion for fighting and the Ramos Bros.
both gave it 100% despite not being 100%.
Gregorio "Goyo" Morales vs Isaac Morales (SAPR) - Despite Goyo's lack of experience he was able to rise to the occasion and box like a
season veteran against the debuting Isaac Morales. Goyo used a strong jab to set the pace and pick his opponent apart throughout the bout.
In route to his victory he scored two knockdowns and one standing 8 count. Although Goyo controlled the fight from the get go Isaac didn't
make it easy. Isaac stayed on his feet and made Goyo work all three rounds to earn it. Both boxers have a bright future if they continue to do
what's needed in the gym.
Cresencio Ramos vs Franscico Martinez (Guerrero's Boxing - Austin) After a rough start in the first Cresencio was able to gain control
in the final two rounds by outboxing Martinez and earn the victory.
Jason Ramos vs Christian Ramirez (Neighborhood Boxing Gym - Corpus Christi) This was an exciting bout........for the fans. As a
coach, nerve wrecking. This fight could have easily gone the other way and the score cards told the same story. It was a split decision victory
3-2, with one card scoring it for Ramos 12-11. Best way to describe this bout was, "let's punch and see who's left standing in the end". Jason
continues to improve and should have no problem filling in big brothers (Cresencio) shoes in the future if he keeps up the hard work.
Join us on facebook to view full photo album of these bouts.

Ximenez scores convincing victory!
July 2, 2011 - San Antonio, TX
Ray Ximenez kept his record unblemished with a dominating performance over New Mexico boxer, Aaron Fernandez. After a slow start in the
first Ximenez stepped it up the 2nd round and started picking Fernandez apart. Midway through the round Ximenez sent Fernandez to the
canvas with a left hook to the body. Both boxers stood toe to toe exchanging punches as the bell sounded. Ximenez stalked Fernandez in the
final two rounds connecting with combinations to the body and head scoring a flash knockdown in the 4th. In the end all judges were in
agreement turning in identical scores of 40-34. With the victory Ximenez improved to 3-0.

Ramos ranked #3 in the United States.
Cresencio Ramos ended his Junior Olympic career with some impressive accolades. For 2011 Ramos claimed the LBC title, State title, and
earned a bronze medal at the Junior Olympic Nationals this past week in Mobil, Alabama. Ramos scored two convincing victories before
dropping a decision to Gervonta Davis (Baltimore, MD) in the semi-finals.
Arturo Ramos Jr. was chosen as the assistant coach for Team Texas for winning the team title at the LBC tournament and finishing 2nd at the
State tournament in Midland.
Ramos will beging his Open Division career at this years LBC Championships
Boxers bring home titles.
Ramon Cardenas earns Outstanding JO Boxer of the Tournament.
After returning from the Ringside Tournament with heartbreak loses Gonzales (lost a 3-2 in the finals) & Cardenas (losing to the #1 ranked
boxer in the United States in his first fight) came home with a bitter taste. Looking to erase that bitter taste both were back in the gym the day
after ready to correct the mistakes they had made in Kansas. With the Houston Open Ring National tournament a week after Cardenas and
Gonzales saw opportunity.
This was the perfect example on how to use a loss as motivation to improve.
Juan "Romo" Gonzales acted like a seasoned veteran after losing a 3-2 dec. in Kansas. Gonzales defeated Mario Cardenas (Ragin Cajun -
Houson) in the finals to earn the title. He had to get by 2011 Ringside Champion, Roland Rojas (Laredo, Tx) in the semis to earn his trip to the
finals.
For Cardenas this tournament was a bit more satisfying. In his first outing he defeated the #3 ranked boxer in US, Hector Valdez. Valdez holds
a win over Cardenas back in the 2010 State Silver Gloves Tournament. The finals was extra special for Cardneas as he scored the victory
over Marc Torres (Houston), Torres defeated Cardenas at this years State finals in Midland. Due to his impressive victories Cardenas also
earned the Outstanding JO Boxers of the tournament.
Once again our team had a great supporting cast in Houston. Despite not boxing in the tournament the families of Gregory Morales, Bam
Rodriguez & Juan Gonzales all made the trip in support of their teammates.
Arturo Ramos Jr & Jesse Rodriguez served as our team coaches for the tornament.

Rodriguez & Morales have impressive showings!
Oct. 1, 2011
Our team had a nice showing this weekend at the Joe Souza's Boxing gym in downtown San Antonio.
Jesse "Bam" Rodriguez scored a nice win over Laredo's Angel Garcia. After a slow first round Bam picked up the pace in the final two rounds
and scored the convincing 5-0 victory.
Gregory "Goyo" Morales found out firsthand how looks can be deceiving. After a rough first round Goyo made some adjustments between
rounds and scored a hard earned 4-1 victory over San Marcos', Robert Garcia. Garcia showed impressive strength for his 70 pound frame. It
was obvious by the look of Goyo's face between rounds that Garcia had heavy hands. Good win for Goyo.

Team has successful weekend "apart"!
Nov. 6, 2011 - San Antonio & Dallas, TX
Team Ramos had to part ways this past weekend. With three of our boxers (Josh Franco, Bam Rodriguez & Goyo Morales) scheduled to enter
Ray Ximenez's Dallas Pal tournament we hit the road early Saturday morning arriving just in time for the 10am deadline for weigh ins. The two
day tournament had over 60 teams from around the state. There was a total of 80 bouts over the two day period. Four of those bouts included
Team Ramos. Arturo & Cresencio Sr. stayed back home with Cresecncio Jr. and Ramon Cardenas as they both had prematched bouts at the
Farmers Market Boxing show.
Gregory Morales vs Kel Hunter (Devil Dogs) & Jose Lara (Los Gallos) Morales has finally found comfort in the ring with his "unique"
style. Morales breaks many of the basic rules of boxing with his style. It was obvious after the first couple of months in the gym that he was
bringing a style of boxing into our gym that was of his own. Instead of trying to change his style our team added some footwork and created a
style that has helped him earn a 11-1 record and a 2011 Ringside National Title. In this tournament Morales used his "James Brown" type
footwork to keep both opponents off balance and pile up the points.
Bam Rodriguez vs Abraham Limas (Vivero) Rodriguez faced off with 2010 Silver Gloves National Champion in the finals. Bams work ethic
and dedication was evident with the end result of this bout. He was able to score a victory over a style that he's had trouble with in the past.
With a few "minor" adjustments in the gym Rodriguez added another "weapon" to his already dangerous arsenal.
Josh Franco vs Miguel Aguayo (Dallas Pal) Aguayo made Franco work every second of this bout to earn the 4-1 victory. It was obvious
Franco timing and footwork were a bit off. The only positive to come from this victory was the fact that Franco was able to earn a victory on an
off day.
Back home in San Antonio two of our top boxers faced some stiff competition at the Farmers Village Flea Market. One of these bouts was so
intense it had a few "coaches" opening their mouths from a distance. Some of these inexperienced coaches will never understand the intensity
and emotion that one feels inside the ring when it feels like one is fighting for their lives. It's easy to scream and yell from outside the ropes.
Ramon Cardenas vs Joey Pesina (Angels Boxing) There was fireworks from the opening bell. According to those at ringside the talking
began as soon as the first bell sounded. Although Ramons gameplan was to outbox the aggressive Pesina it all changed after the first words
were said. Some coaches might call this bad sportsmanship I call it good coaching. Pesina's coaches know Ramons style and knew they'd
have a better chance of winning the bout if they could get Ramon to set his feet and exchange with their boxer. The game plan worked to a
charm as they got Ramon to exchange, it was an all out war for three rounds. NOTE: A few inexperienced coaches have cried "bad sportsmanship"
due to an exchange that happen after the bell sounded for the 3rd round. After watching the video it is clear that a punch was not thrown and that Ramon did
not initiated the contact as I was told. Ramon was guilty of shoving his opponents face away after Pesina face came into contact with Ramons face. To all you
inexperienced coaches this might seem like bad sportsmanship on these boxers part. It is not. When two top boxers fight against one another in their
hometown all those who have been in the ring understand how emotional one gets when those fist are flying inside the ropes. Emotions are high and the
actions in the ring should in no way should identify who a person is outside the ring. Ramon & Joey are both very good boxers who give it 101% each time
they step in the ring. It is understandable how emotions may lead to things that to the inexperienced eye may seem wrong. To all those who have never been in
the ring feel free to ask any boxer who has boxed at the top level for their opinion on this.
Cresencio Ramos vs Blake Uresti (Fight Factory) Ramos cruises to an 5-0 decision victory.

Cresencio Ramos wins first Open Men's Tournament!
Dec. 4, 2011
Two months after turning 17 Ramos made a successful run in his first Men's Open Division Tournament. There were some doubts after having a
very successful Junior Olympic career about not only moving up into the Men's Divsion but also moving up to the 132 pound weight division. All
doubts were easily erased after Sunday Championship victory of Jessie Martinez of Victoria, TX.
Ramos vs Joseph Rodriguez (James Leija's Gym) Early on Rodriguez stalked Ramos throughout the ring. Often pinning him up against the
ropes and scoring with pit pat shots to the body. The fight was close going into the 3rd round. Ramos game plan changed from boxer to
puncher and he met Rodriguez in the center of the ring to start the final round. It was obvious after his first exchange the he was not only able to
withstand Rodriguez power but was also to able to deliver some of his own. Ramos scored the 5-0 victory.
Ramos vs Ronnie Cantu (San Fernando) This was a battle of the "Indians", Harlandale Indians. Both Cantu and Ramos attend Harlandale.
Not only do they attend the same school but are also classmates in Spanish class. It was the Junior (Ramos) vs the Senior (Cantu), the
Homecoming King. Luckily for Cantu the "Crown" was not on the line. After a slow start Ramos picked up the pace in the 3rd. Both boxers
bravely met in the center of the ring and exchanged hard combinations. Ramos once again found his his strength and experience to be to much
for Cantu. Ramos scored an 8 count towards the end of the round to earn 5-0 victory and advance to the finals.
Ramos vs Jessie Martinez (Victoria, TX) After two bouts and six three minute rounds under his belt opposed to two minutes in the JO's.
Ramos used the extra minute wisely. After a nonchalant first 2 minutes of the bout Ramos picked up the pace and scored on a few hard
combinations to end the 1st. He picked up where he left off to start the 2nd to dominate the rest of the way. Ramos once again scored a
standing 8 count to finish the 3rd. He was awarded the 4-1 decision. I was really surprised to hear the decision was 4-1. After coming home and
watching the bout a couple of times it is pretty clear that the judge who scored the bout for the other boxer was an idiot. Our LBC president
knows exactly who this official was. He also saw how lopsided this bout was. It's obvious this ref needs more experience and should be demoted
to "shadowing" for a few months before being allowed to judge again. This is a VERY important tournament for our kids so the most experienced
judges should be used, not the new judges that can't tell the difference between a left hook and fish hook
Christian Santibanez vs Sal Belmontes (Corpus Christi) Same story different date for Santibanez. He's made a career of always finishing
off EVERY fight strong. This was the case again. After being down going into the final round Santibanez got to work and made it close. In the
end he'd drop a familiar 3-2 decision to the eventual winner of the tournament.

Bam Rodriguez wins state!
Rodriguez followed teammate (Cresencio Ramos) impressive performance at ths years LBC tournament with a impressive showing of his own.
Rodriguez, like Ramos, scored three consecutive victories at the state tournament to claim title.
Bam Rodriguez vs Isaac Martinez (Bully Unit) After a rough first start Rodriguez regained his legs in the 2nd and scored a convincing 5-0
victory.
Bam Rodriguez vs Judah Rodriguez (Conflict) Bam picked up where he left off the day before using quick sidesteps and solid combinations
to score the victory and advance to the finals.
Bam Rodriguez vs Mark Renteria (CE King) As Rodriguez stood across the ring bofore the opening bell I'm sure a few quick flashbacks
came to mind. Previous to this bout Renteria had beaten Rodriguez twice. This time things were much different. Switching from orthodox to
southpaw to confuse Renteria when the final bell sounded it was obvious that this outcome would be much different. Rodriguez was awarded
the 5-0 decision earning the State title and advancing to Littlerock, Ark
Goyo Morales vs Ramon Acosta (2nd Chance) Morales wins decision
Goyo Morales vs Joel Martinez (Unattached) Morales drops decision
Julian Ramos vs Tito Guajardo (Castillos) Ramos drops decision
Jason Ramos vs was Disqualfied for not havign the proper mouthpiece for his braces. Although Ramos has used this same mouthpiece for
the past 10 bouts without a problem this time was different. Would be nice if everyone was on the same page when it came to these things.

What most boxers should be doing before their bouts, FOCUS.

Bam advances to National Silver Gloves!
Jan. 15, 2012
Bam Rodriguez continues to impress with each outing. His hard work and dedication to the sweet science is second to none. Ever since he
joined our gym the bar of expectations for all boxers has changed. If a boxer at his age has the mind to focus on each task at hand, set goals,
dedicate himself at still have enough time to average a 95 in school there is no reason why others at the gym shouldn't be able to follow in his
footsteps.
Although success is measured by most based on the number of W's on record WE expect/ask for more. Winning fights is not what I ask my
boxers to aim for. I expect improvement at all times, good work ethic in and out of the gym, and dedication. By focusing and making these things
our main priority the outcome of each bout, win or loss is not important If one of our boxers wins a bout but doesn't perform up to his/her ability
we take it as a loss. We expect all of our boxers to live a good productive life outside the gym and prepare for adulthood no matter how young
they are.
Bam Rodriguez vs Caiden Ball (Louisiana) Bam performed to his ability and scored an impressive win. Caiden Ball's dedication and hard work
was easily seen during the bout. Although it was obvious that Bam is currently at a differently level than most kids his age Caiden never
stopped trying. This is the attitude all boxers should have. Caiden has a bright future if he continues to work hard and make the sacrafices
needed to be a good boxer.
Bam Rodriguez vs Jacorion Hollinsworth (Arkansas) Bam continued his impressive streak and was able to score a RSC with a body shot.
Hollinsworth also showed the mental toughness that all successful boxers have. Both Ball and Hollinsworth along with their coaches should be
proud. Not many boxers would have got passed the first round with Rodriguez.
Bam drops close decision at National Semi-Finals!
Feb. 5, 2012
Bam's impressive run ended at this years National Silver Gloves semi-finals in the hands of Elian Lua (California). Although he was able to
squeeze by his first opponenet Keon Davis with a razor thin 3-2 victory his efforts in the Semi's were not as rewarding. The decision could
have easily gone to Davis. Bam ended both bouts with a strong 3rd round. Although it was able to give him the victory in the first bout it
served to late against his opponent in the Semi's.
The National Silver Gloves tournament pits the top 8 boxers in the nation verses one another to determine the presitgious title of not only
National Champion but also the #1 ranking. It has become the most important tournament for boxers under the age of 14. Each boxer
representing his Region advances to this tournament by winning the State and Regional title in their respective region. Bam advanced by
becoming the top boxer in his division in the states of, Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee and Mississippi. Bam was able to win
6 consecutive bouts in McKinney (3) and Arkansas (2)
Eliana Lua dropped a decision to Ray Robinson of Cincinatti, Ohio in the finals. Bam will be ranked as the #4 boxer in the country for the year
2012. His continued dedication to the sweet science guarantees to put him in position to become the top boxer in the country once again
before his career is over.
Hector Taranajra from San Antonio dropped a decision in his first outing at the tournament. He was last years Silver Glvoes defending
Champion.
