Ramos & Martinez end long layoffs.
Hector Ramos & Jairo Martinez end layoffs with victories.

Hector & Jairo both recorded 4 round decisions over their opponents this past weekend in Laredo, TX. Both our
boxers fought opponents from Laredo so you can imagine what the crowd was like. It was also the first time our
team has had two pro boxer on the same card. It was "fun".

Jairo Martinez faced Genaro Castorena (1-4 1ko) of Laredo. There is not secret ingredient in Jairo's style. He
comes to fight. That's exactly what he did to pull out the 2nd victory of his professional career. Non stop action. It's
going to be fun seeing him going 8 - 10 rounds. If anyone ever scores a victory over Jairo it will have to be
someones who's in tip-top shape.

Hector Ramos scored the third win of his pro career vs Pro Debuter Antonio Games or Laredo. Games road to
local "fame" was winning the Ringside
Tournament in Kansas last year. Ramos shook off the ring rust buy fighting a tactical fight vs Games and never
gave in to the hostile crowd. On occasion when boxers had their exchanges in the center of the ring is was
Games who'd start backpedaling after tasting some leather.

Ramos & Martinez both will be back in the ring in May.
Salazar clobbers opponent!
April 25, 2009

This was taken from a Dallas-Ft. Worth Newspaper.

Celina Salazar of San Antonio looked impressive in her pro debut, battering and bullying a game but out-gunned Lisa Lamb of Fort Worth.
The larger Salazar came out aggressively, and rushed Lamb who tried to keep her distance by boxing from the outside. But Salazar would
not be denied and continued whip a flurry of leather that took Lamb completely out of her game. Though it should be noted that Lamb
entered into this fight with a severely fractured right hand, Salazar made a statement Friday night.

Scores were not read but Salazar was awarded a unanimous decision. With the victory Salazar begins her professional career with a
record of 1-0; Lamb falls to 5-4, 2 KOs in defeat.

"A severely fractured right hand" I can't believe this was printed. Anyone who's ever had a SEVERELY FRACTURED
HAND knows there's no possible way a person could ever step into the ring with a SEVERELY FRACTURED HAND. So
this is either a misprint or the reported is part of the MEXICAN MENSO Organization.
Someone also needs to tell to tell this reporter Lisa Lamb could have used a bat, whip, chair, kitchen sink and her legs and
she still would have had a hard time winning this fight. Celina waited to make her pro debut for over 18 months and it was
obvious from the sound of the bell that she wouldn't be denied on this night.

Ramos wins State Title &
Outstanding Boxer Award!
May 17, 2009

Cresencio Ramos impressive performances at this year State Tournament in Los Fresnos, TX didn't go unnoticed.
Ramos was awarded the "Outstanding Boxer of the Tournament" by the vote of the officials.

Ramos scored a very impressive 5-0 decision over 2009 Silver Gloves National Champion Heriberto Ramirez of SW Tx.
and another victory in the Finals over Border Champion Gabriel Rodriguez.
Jairo Martinez scored a unanimous decision over Laredo's own Eddie Ramirez in front of a sell out crowd at the Laredo
Civic Center Friday night.  It was non-stop action from Martinez as he survived a thunderous right hand midway through
the 1st round.  Ramirez emptied his tank trying to end the fight early but lost momentum as Martinez matched
punched-by-punch with his back against the ropes. Martinez kept his opponent with his back towards the ropes for most
of the fight unleashing 4-5 punch combinations to the body & head. Ramirez could not keep up with Martinez' relentless
attack and often turned to tying up the aggressive Martinez.

Martinez survived the fast start then rallied back in the final three rounds to score the clear victory. (score for the fight,
40-36, 39-37, 39-37 all in favor of Martinez)

Martinez along with Hector Ramos & Celina Salazar will be back in action July 11.

June 14, 2009

Cresencio Ramos & Ramon Cardenas both scored dominating victories over their opponents this weekend here at
"home" (San Fernando Gym - San Antonio).

The day kicked off early for our boxers as Cresencio was first up to the plate in the 6th bout (out of  34)of the evening.
After picking up the State Title & Outstanding Boxer of the Tournament Award last month in Los Fresnos, TX Texas
Valley boxer Felipe De Los Santos issued a challenge to Ramos. After weeks of training De Los Santos came up short in
his bid. Ramos used his quick footwork & quick jabs to confuse the lunging De Los Santos. Although the shorter De Los
Santos scored a few clean blows throughout the bout they were not enough to question the decision. Ramos scored 2
standing 8 counts in his route to the dominating victory.

Ramon Cardenas was "FINALLY" rewarded for a victory. Cardenas used a strong defense and stiff jab to outwork David
Walker (Ann Wolfe BC). Cardenas, like Ramos, also scored

two standing 8 counts in the fight. After a slow first round by both boxers Cardenas picked up the pace and had the
opponent backpedaling throughout the fight.

Other boxers who were unable to get bouts after weighing in for this boxing show were: Pedro Contreras, Christian
Santibanez, Steven Duron, Gabriel Delgado, Steven Escobedo & Ray Cordova.

Preperations for this years Ringside Tournament in Kansas will begin this week.

Cardenas brothers bring home Titles!
Cresencio Ramos drops 3-2  heartbreaker in finals.
Steven & Ramon Cardenas both had a impressive week in Kansas City at this years Ringside World Championship
Tournament. Cresencio Ramos had a VERY impressive week as well. He fought his way into the finals through a field of
over 15 boxers. After scoring 3 impressive wins his streak came to an end thanks to the creative scoring of one official.
The loss drained all of us. After years of hard work and dedication Ramos continues to lose to Lady Luck. The man
upstairs must have something great in store for him in the future cause this kids dedication and work ethic is second to
none! His parents have done a great job keeping him grounded & disciplined. Traits that will make him successful later in
life.

Overall this was one of the stronger teams we've taken up to this tournament in the past 10 years. Although some of our
more experienced boxers were left behind (Richard Soto (2 time national champion, Christian Santibanez former National
Champion & Tokunmbo Adeniran, Golden Gloves runner-up & 2008 National finalist) due to them not meeting the training
requirements for the tournament we had a strong showing. Not one loss was lopsided, nobody was hurt, no 8 counts or
RSC's and thanks to AJ, we all shared a few good laughs.

Thanks to everyone who made this trip possible. Without our TEAM PARENTS & Boxing Team members there's no way
we'd be able to make this trip. We raised 2300.00 and as of right now, still have $32 bucks in our account!

Celina Salazar in action tonight!
Salazar decisions Rodriguez.
Sept. 27, 2009

Celina Salazar pulled off a split decision victory over Anita Rodriguez of Ft. Worth at the 1st Annual Oscar Diaz Fundraiser
Scores were, 39-37, 40-36 Salazar & 39-37 Rodriguez. Rodriguez showed her love for the fight game by not letting
Celinas aggressiveness bother her. It was an impressive performance by Rodriguez.

This was Celina's worse performance ever. We were all disappointed by her performance but remained positive about the
outcome. Anytime a boxer pulls off a victory on a DAY OFF, it's a good thing. After watching the video more than a handful
of times I believe the judges scored it correctly. With that said, these women MUST have a rematch. Seconds after the
decision was read I let Rodriguez and her handlers know that we'd have no problem accepting a rematch, on their turf this
time. So the offer will stand. Anytime Rodriguez wants the rematch we'll take it.

I will admit, had the decision gone to Rodriguez you wouldn't have heard any complaints from our end. It was a very difficult
fight to judge for all in attendance.

Video of this fight should be up on youtube in the next couple of days. Email ramosboxingteam@aol.com to receive a link.
It will be set as private and will only be viewed by those requesting a link.

Cardenas brothers continue to impress.
Ray Cordova & Christian Santibanez drop close (3-2) decisions.

Steven Escobedo-Cardenas & Ramon Cardenas picked up right where they left off after winning this years
Ringside Tournament and scored two impressive wins.
Ramon Cardenas scored a RSC-3 over Laredo's Jorge Garay. Steven Cardenas  also scored a win upping his
record to 5-0 with an impressive showing vs Randozzo Boxing Gym's Renato Rodriguez.

Ray Cordova & Christian Santibanez both dropped 3-2 decisions. Ray lost to Joey Rodriguez with scores of
14-16, 9-11 & 8-11, the other two judges had it in favor of Cordova with scores of 20-17 & 12-11. I was
impressed with the scoring in this bout and had no complaints on the outcome after seeing the scorecards.

The same could not be said of Santibanez's scoring. These scorecards were all over the place. Someone must
advice the new officials if theres any DOUBT if a punch scored or not, more than likely, it didn't. They should also
advice them that there's nothing wrong with turning in score cards with single digit totals after 3 rounds.
Santibanez drops decision in Finals!

This years PAL Tournament had one largest turnouts in the history of the event with over 600  boxers all competing to
become part of history. Christian Santibanez came up short in the finals vs 2009 Ringside Champion, Luis Castro of
Brownsville, TX.  Santibanez advanced to the finals with an impressive stoppage over Rudy Castillo of North TX. The most
impressive run our team had was by Pedro Contreras III. Contreras scored two impressive victories over National Finalist
Lionel Tijerina & Jonathan Castaneda before falling to eventual Champion Kevin Montago of Calif. (11-7)

After being down 3 points going into the final round vs Tyjuan Townsend Cardenas pressed the action piling up impressive
9 points in the final round to have a spirited come
from behind victory. His bid against James Taylor came up a bid short but not after a valiant effort in the final round.

Ramos was unable to get going against nemeses Gervonta Davis of Baltimore, MD
Tokunmbo Adeniran

119 lbs/senior: Jorge Rodriguez dec. Jose Duron, 9-4
Duron took his punching power to a higher weight class and scored KO over Gabriel Ibarra but was unable to catch Jorge
Rodriguez in the final round. Rodriguez decided to play it safe and backpedaled for the entire final round to seal the victory.

Ramos adds STATE TITLE to resume!
Team's presence felt at State Tournament.
Dec. 13, 2009
Head Coaching duties were handed over to Cresencio Ramos Sr. & Pedro Contreras for this years Silver Gloves State
Tournament. Both Ramos & Contreras stepped up to the plate and returned home with some impressive results. Although
only ONE of our boxers will be advancing to Littlerock, ARK it was clear that our teams presence at the State Tournament
was felt.

A few minor adjustments to our training weeks before this tournament proved to make the difference when some of our
inexperienced boxers faced Texas best.

Alex Rangel 10-11yrs 70lbs (0 bouts)
vs         Giovanni Martinez. Rangel faced a veteran of 20+ bouts in his first outing and dominated the fight from the start of
the round. Many might think entering a boxer with no fights into a tournament usually spells disaster Those people have
never seen "Warrior" in the ring. This kid has the makings of a champion. With his continued enthusiasm for the sport the sky
will be the limit.
STATE FINALS
vs         Lionel Tijerina (2009 National Champion) Rangel found himself in the State Finals in only his 2nd fight and didn't
disappoint. He gave Tijerina all he could handle in dropping the decision.

Ramon Cardenas 14-15 100lbs
vs Gilbert Llamas (2 Time National Pal Champion & 3 Time Ringside Champion) Cardenas dominated this fight scoring a 8
count in the final round. This was Ramon's 12th bout.
STATE FINALS
vs Hector Valdez (Former, Silver Gloves, PAL, Ringside, Junior GG Champion. Currently ranked #1 in the nation & a veteran
of over 90 bouts) Ramon dropped a 3-2 decision to Valdez in the finals but all present knew the outcome should have easily
gone the other way. After the bout Hector's coach agreed by asking Ramon to represent TEXAS in LIttlerock next month.

Salazar victory sparks fireworks!
Dec. 18, 2009

Immediately after Celina was declared the winner in her last fight vs Anita Rodriguez of Dallas I told her coaches
they deserved a rematch. The fight could have easily gone their way. I try my best not to be biased. Everytime
we've won a close decision or I've felt the fight should have gone the other way I'm the first to let our boxers know.
With that in mind, the official who scored Celina's fight vs Christinas Ruiz a draw should be demoted to time
keeper or other administrative duties. It's obvious this official has never laced up a pair of gloves. There's a major
difference between a boxer and a fighter. I'm sure this official is still trying to figure out which is which. If this official
ever judges one of our fighters again I'll have to make sure to staple a sticky to his forehead that reads, "the boxer
who gets hits the most, loses". Pretty simple if you think about it. Maybe someone forgot to tell this official he's
supposed to score the actual fight not the boxing trunks or hairdo.

My opinion on the scoring (Salazar vs Ruiz) was backed up by some of the more experienced officials at ringside
not scoring the bout.
Another fight on the card had the same "creative" scoring. Omar Gonzales vs  Gabriel Gomez. .In my opinion Omar
deserved a DRAW, not a LOSS. Gonzales looked good despite the 8 year layoff. I'm almost positive Gomez has
ties with promoter, Julio Marines. I'm sure the judges had that in mind when scoring the bout. "You want to work,
make sure my guy wins". This is what hurts our sport. Some of these officials aren't worth the shirt they wear.

So... here's my summary of the fight between Celina Salazar & Christina Ruiz. Celina hit Christina more times than
Christina hit Celina so she won. THE END. I'm glad boxing hasn't adopted the NBA rules when it comes to "players
giving their opinion" on the officials. I'd go broke.

Did I mention Celina was the Co-Main Event? It's a first for one of our boxers.

San Antonio Express News - John Whisler
In the co-main event, Celina Salazar (3-0) remained unbeaten with a close, hard-fought majority decision over
Christina Ruiz (2-2, 1 KO) in a four-round battle of San Antonio featherweights.

Ruiz appeared to be the heavier puncher, but Salazar won with superior boxing skills. Scores were 39-37 twice
and 38-38.

“I just followed the game plan,” Salazar said. “My training really paid off.”
