Hector Ramos puts pupils to
test this Friday!
Oct. 20, 2011
After weeks of intense training Coach Ramos will host the 2nd Annual San
Antonio College Boxing show this Friday the 21st of October. Ramos will
put his students through the ultimate test in 10 sanctioned bouts through South
TX LBC/USA Boxing.
Boxers will get a up close look at the sweet science and experience
something most casual fans never do by stepping inside those ropes to test
their mettle.
Boxers this year went through an intense 4 week training camp in preparation
for competition. The new program at San Antonio College allows students to
participate in these USA Boxing events free of charge. SAC pays for all
membership fees, equipment, competition uniform, headgear, handwraps and
their each boxers annual membership to USA Boxing.
Depending on participation San Antonio College is hoping to enter a team in
this year LBC South Tx Boxing tournament and Regional Golden Gloves.
This will be a first for the local boxing scene and a move in the right direction
in providing a positive image to the sport.
Currently Palo Alto College has a Kinesiology Boxing 101 class in which
students get full college credit for passing the course. PAC plans to follow the
same path and have its own boxing team in the near future.
