Tuesday May 2.  Decent sparring at the gym today. Alabama
has some decent skills. Once he gets used to our training
he should be pretty good. Hector needed some GOOD TOUGH
sparring before leaving to Canada so I decided to call on
Coach Ledesma from Azteca. He's been training a jr. middleweight
boxer from Africa who's getting ready to fight soon. I figured
he could give Hector some good work, I was wrong. They sparred
five rounds and Hector was just getting stronger as the rounds
went on. Hector did everything wrong but looked really
good doing it. He got hit maybe once or twice in 15 minutes
of sparring. If this would have been an amateur bout
it would have been stopped after the 1st round.
Hector should do well in Canada. Spurs are up by
3 after the 1st qtr. I feel good.
Wed. April 26 Hector is back at the gym training. He worst enemy
will be the left hook. Raul's hand and cut look much better. His
fight in June is probable. A local newspaper (RUMBO) was at
the gym interviewing some boxers; Hector, Raul, Cresencio &
Celina. They were at Scratch Boxing Gym interviewing the
"best boxer in San Antonio" she eats nails and farts bullets;
her name is LA COBRITA! The Spurs won, I feel good.
Thursday April 20 Good sparring today, Jairo looked good today
JO's will be in Austin. Christian looked DAMN good on Tuesday.
Friday April 8 Is it normal to get pissed off when the Spurs lose?
Well, it pisses me off. Had a good workout today. Jairo's legs
were shaking like Elvis yesterday, today they were a bit tired.
Eric showed up on a Friday for the 2nd week in a row so expect a
sudden change in the weather. Slim hates to run. Alabama is
showing a good work ethic. Billy is freaken fast. Lita's face looks
skinny. Lita's big sister likes to draw. Lita's sister, Victoria's
nickname used to be Cola. Kevin likes to cuss. JJ is becoming
a big boy. It's late and im still pissed off. Fuck the Mavs & Avery.
Tuesday April 4 So i found out a few days ago some of my extended
family members are real dickheads. (my moms cousins) Christian
sparred 20 minutes straight today. Cresencio had a baseball game.
We have some new drills. A woman at work today smelled funny.
Friday March 31. Why are mensos from the Judson area walking out of
class? Whats wrong with  these idiots? Having 50 students walk
out of a school is not considered a protest. What they're doing
is called,
"It's friday I dont feel like going to school and mommy and
daddy just bought me a new car, LETS SKIP!"
Some idiots
they interviewed on TV had no idea what they were protesting.
One mensa said "Freedom of speech" Pendejos.
Sunday March19 Things are picking up again. Looks like our boxers
will be really busy in the coming months. I expect Christian &
Cresencio to make a name for themselves before it's all over with.
They both feed off each other really well. Few days ago while doing
a bag drill i asked all the boxers to go full speed on the bags and
end the workout once they could no longer punch. The last two
boxers were Christian & Cresencio; not wanting to be the first to
"quit'  I had to call time after 6 minutes and 30 seconds.
Wed. March 8 Jesse is 0 for 15 since the Golden Gloves.
Christian is picking up some old habits again. Cresencios
right hook is doing some serious damage. I've given Celina
some time off. Jairo is still kicking ass. Eric hits like a fucken
mule. A few new posers at the gym every now and then.
Some weirdos too.
Monday March 6 Christian, Cresencio, Jairo and
Eric Guajardo will be in action this week in Corpus.
Hector fights tomorrow vs Michael Dallas from California.
He should do well. I like the SAPD
THURSDAY Feb. 9 Lots of sparring today. Jesse, Celina
and Adam looked good. Adam is looking more and more
like the white version of Pernell Whitaker. Jesse seems to
have finally decided to bust his ass in the gym. He's been
working extremely hard. Celina as always is giving it 101%.
All three should do well in the coming tournament.
TUESDAY(Jan.10) New year means registration
time for all boxers, time to cough up 35 bucks!
Pretty cheap compared to other sports. Good
sparring session at the gym today. Jesse is
sparring with a super heavyweight and Christian
is sparring like someone just said something
bad about his momma. Some of the sparring
here gets more competitive that the fights.
FRIDAY(JAN 6.) Pretty good workout today
Had the guys run some nice sprints after a
really tough week in the gym. Jesse & Christian
were the only boxers that didn't make today
USA Boxing (visit USABoxing.org)recently
adopted a new rule,
All coaches are not
required to take a background check
 This
still doesn't weed out all the pricks, but its the
thought that counts, good move USA BOXING.
TUESDAY(DEC.20) I'm just in no mood to
update the main page with results and pictures
so i'll do it here. . Two weeks ago Jesse
Santibanes lost a decision to James Cantu
of Angels Boxing Club at a local show in
Ft. Sam Houston. Although both boxers have
well over 30 bouts and are over the age of
16 they boxed 3x1 minute rounds. This was to
Jesse's advantage who would have easily been
stopped had they gone 3x 1.05 minute rounds.
Jesse who has been boxing for 6 years with a
handful of boxing gyms around San Antonio seems
to not be bothered by losing close decisions to
some of the top boxers in our area. Theres no
doubt Jesse is a talented boxer when he wants
to be  but unless he starts boxing/training with
a desire to win it might be time to start looking
for another sport.  Unlike other sports losing in
boxing can take its toll in the long run; ever talk
to some of these coaches who boxed a little to
long in their hayday ? Ask them a question and
it will take you minutes to decipher what they're
saying.

This past weekend Cresencio Ramos ended
they year in impression fashion as he pounded
on John Doe (forgot the kids name, i'll look it up
tomorrow) from Edinburg. "Little Ramos"  has
matured a bit physically in the last couple of
months and it was noticeable in this fight as
he sent his opponent backpedaling each time
he landed a good shot. Christian Santibanes
suffered a loss to Mark Baladez from Austin, Texas.
This evens the scored at 1-1 as Christan got the
best of him earlier this year at the JO's in Mission,
Texas
It wasn't Christians day as he looked a bit out of
sync throughout the fight. He lost a 2- decision,
Scorecards read

9-8        Baladez

8-8        Santibanes (this judge had it a draw but
awarded the bout to Santibanes for being
the aggressor in the fight)

12-10    Baladez

Overall Christian has had a good year. I'll post
everyone record for the year in the coming days.

the hell with spellcheck!

MONDAY(DEC.19) Don't know what it is with
boxing scene here locally but it seems we're
surrounded by a handful sexual predators. I
found out today a complaint against a former
coach here at our gym would be filed with our
national office in Colorado Springs, CO. Don't
know if this will ever make John Whisler's
column in the Express News but once everything
is finalized it will make headline news here. This
year our gym has had its share of up and downs.
Yes our boxers won 3 national titles this year but
two of the coaches that helped here turned out to be
a bunch of sick minded fucks. It's time for us to
stop brushing these types of incidents under the rug
and start making them public.

"NEW RULE" (as Bill Maher would say)

If your son or daughter doesn't train here, you're not
allowed to coach here.

It's a given that when young boxers have their parents
support they perform well. Parents are encouraged
to be involved.

TUESDAY (DEC.13) The energy it takes to
motivate someone sometimes is not worth the
results. I haven't stepped into the ring to compete
in quite some time but i know after a loss i was
back in the gym the following day training like a
madman. Whats your motivation? Can't find one?
Jump off a cliff!

If you take food away from those starving they'll just look
somewhere else.

Food = The Hunted
The Starving = sick minded perverts.

FACTS are actions

TUESDAY(NOV.22) Slow day at the gym today.
Our Silver Gloves boxers will be having a reality
check in the coming week. .
FRIDAY (Oct 21)  We've been experiencing some
problems with our computer monitor as of late. This
is the 2nd montior my CPU has decided to fry in less
than 3 months. I'm borrowing a monitor for the
meantime so updates to our site will be scarce.
THURSDAY. Somewhere along the drive between
Kansas City & San Antonio Jairo picked up some
speed and power in his punches. In the short time
he's been training he's made a complete turnaround
in his boxing style. With his continued dedication
the sky may be the limit for this young buck.
SUNDAY Well Tarver said it to me over 10 years
ago, "I'm gonna be the man to knock out Roy
Jones", I thought he was full of shit but he backed
it up Saturday. What we saw was the final nail
on the coffin. Tarver ended to career of one of
the best "athletes" in the world, Roy Jones.
But my opinion still hasn't changed, i still don't
like Tarver.
SAT. Local boxing show was cancelled.
FRIDAY With some of our boxers off to other sports,
Jairo, Celina, Christian and Jesse will be the only
boxers competing this week at a local club show
here in San Antonio.
MONDAY Poker is the latest phase across that nation.
SUNDAY Looks like we have another pervert in our
local "boxing world" Sooner or later the word will
spread about a local boxing coach showing
"inappropriate conduct" around one of his female
boxers. Although these are just accusations right now
a coach should never put himself in a situation to be
accused. Hopefully he'll end up in the same cell with
Richard Martinez They'd get along great. A message
to the people that decided to stick around and wait
for RITA.
"We'll ride it out"
FRIDAY Sept.23 Typical Friday
TUESDAY Sept. 21 Another wild day at the gym
today. Jesse & Jairo are looking sharp.
MONDAY Sept.20 VERY busy day at the gym,
over 30 kids today. A few kids will spar for the
very first time tomorrow. Which means one of
two things; tomorrow will be their last day at the
gym or we'll have some new boxers registered
before the month is over.
WED.(Sept. 14) Just got back from Canada
a few days ago. Best damn PJ show i've seen
in a long time. Two nights of front row tickets
(thanks to my little buddy from austin)
FRIDAY Really slow at the gym today, typical Friday.
The important thing was that all the boxers competing
next Sat. were present. "Wristbands" son had his first
day of training today. According to his father this 8yr
old 60 pounder has done some jit-jitsu (sp?); he found
out today boxing is much different.
THURSDAY (Sept.1) Well, "New York" is off
to....New York. He asked to do something "fun"
today so i put him in the ring for some sparring.
He sparred one round, a 16 minute round. He'll
sleep good tonight. As one white guy goes off
to New York another one arrived today. "Wristband"
was looking for a gym for his son, a 8 yr old. 60
pounder. He asked me a very good question
before leaving, "If you had a son the same age
as mine, what gym would you take him to?".
I pause for a few seconds and thought to myself,
Anywhere but a boxing gym.
TUESDAY-  We got in a few more new "boxers"
today. Most of them are out of shape teenagers.
We did get ONE MORE boxer from another gym
(Unlimited Boxing) By the end of this year most
coaches in San Antonio will end up hating me.
FRIDAY- Two of our boxers playing football for
their school had a rough first game. Both were
dealt defeats. Good thing about team sports is
that you can always blame someone else.
THURSDAY-  Eric confessed today, he wants to
play football. After his long fight against Hot
Cheetos/Fries he has decided to donate his
belt to Jairo and will pursue his football career.
WED.- Poker Night.
TUESDAY- Hot as hell. Had some decent sparring
going on, few fireworks. Christian & Jairo looked
sharp. Two new guys (from another gym) have a
few ingredients a coach cant teach. With a few
more months of training they should be ready for
competition.
MONDAY- It was your typical Monday at the gym
today. Full of people giving it 50%. We had some
old "visitors" drop by today. With no fights on our
schedule we'll do some light sparring & training
for the remainder of the week. Kayne West wants
an end to homophobia; i want an end to sucky music.
SUNDAY -  Mondays suck!
SATURDAY - Is it just me or did Vargas sound a
bit like Ali during his interview? He's not the same
anymore; i think its time to hang them up. We all
know the story though. He'll fight a few more times
vs mediocre opponents in route to a mega fight
against a big name opponent. A boxers ego is
the hardest thing to let go, sometimes its best to
walk away. I picked up my "little" brother from the
airport today. It feels pretty good knowing your
brother is considered one of the top boxers in
the nation. He'll be in town for a few weeks before
leaving back to Calif. for his final months in the USAF.
FRIDAY - A few new guys started training today.
One is a young 7 yr old, the other was a 24 yr old.
The older guy used to train and fight for Zarazamora
Street Gym. Its amazing to see how some coaches
can register these boxers and allow them to compete
without teaching them the difference between a
right cross & right hook; these are the basics all
coaches teach, right? The 7 yr old ended up at our
gym as a result of no other gym accepting kids his
age. The way i see it is that once this kid is old
enough to compete he'll have a 1 yr. headstart on
other kids his age.
April 6, 2008 Well, our boxers enjoyed a good weekend. Cresencio
Ramos, Steven Duron, Ray Cordova, Richard Soto and Hector
Ramos all fought.......and won. Although all of them won I was
disappointed with a few of them. Hector & Ramos both did really
good. They boxed to their potential. I can't say the same about the
others. But as a I like to say, "when you able to win on an off day, it
makes it a good day". Boxers are preparing for this years Ringside
Tournament. Looks like we'll have a few new boxers traveling with
us this year.

April 2, 2008 Sweet revenge for the boxers earlier today.

Sparring has been a bit different for our boxers this week. Our ring
is down so we've been sparring outdoors. Boxers seem to like the
change but we should be back to regular sparring late next week.
In the last couple of weeks we've had some great sparring against
other boxing gyms here at our gym.  Zarzamora, Castillo, Unlimited,
Tough Enough and Eldermiro Davila's boxing gym have all brought
boxers over to spar. It's always fun for our boxers to have other
gyms stop by to spar. You get the same aroma as an actual fight
when they stop by. We hope it continues.

March 16, 2008 We had a short workout today (Sunday). Mike
Ramos & Carlos Alvarez both decided to put in some extra work and
hit the track. Mike is getting ready to fight in Calif in a few weeks.
He's fighting a Top Rank boxer and is probably being thought of as
an "opponent". Which is good for us. We see this as a great
opportunity to showcase Mike. Alvarez went with us cause he
thought I was going to take him to Rocky's Taco House on
Pleasanton Rd afterwards. Instead, we went to GNC.

March 15, 2008 Things have been going pretty good at the gym.
The last two weeks have been good for our boxers. We've had
some good sparring sessions against other San Antonio boxing
gyms.

Christian Santibanes is FINALLY starting to show signs of good
things to come. Seems like he's finally found the confidence and
comfort level inside the ring. He's looked really good against foes
from other gyms. In most cases sparring boxers who are 15-20
pounds heavier than him. It's difficult finding boxers to spar against
12-13yr olds with as much experience as Santibanes. Cresencio
Ramos has looked good as well. He's finally realized that boxing is
not always about being the "tough guy" inside the ring. The
strongest, fastest, most aggressive boxers don't always win. Boxing,
although considered a "barbaric" sport is still a sport that requires
high intelligence in order to be successful.

We've also had a few little "i hate you" email's, or as I call these..
bird droppings. I've always felt insults are the biggest form of
flattery. There's a meaning and story behind each insult. If you
insult a persons good doings or accomplishments it usually means
you lack in those two departments. It's almost like when you were in
2nd grade and had a crush on a girl or boy.. and you'd pick on
them, or throw sand at them. Insults are similar to that. In the last
little email I received, they insulted my manhood which means one
thing,
they must lack in that dept as well.  Either way, I enjoy and
always welcome any kind of feedback. Praise is always good but it
is the insults from envious people that show you that you're doing
something right.

March something, 2008 I forgot today's date and my phone is
wayyyyyyyy over there on the other side of the table. Had a great
weekend, I didn't do shit.

Had a couple of guys workout on Saturday. One of them was "slim".
He's 10yrs old and weighs 58lbs. He's turning out to be pretty good.
According to his dad this kid is so mean he eats Onions like Apples.
I approached the kid and asked him about this, he confirmed it.
According to him there's nothing wrong with this. There isn't. I would
just hate to be around him if he ever gets gas.

Machine Gun has demanded I take him off the "rookies page" but
I've been to lazy to do it. But he deserves to be removed from the
rookie's page. He's worked hard to do so.

I have a feeling Arroyo will be competing in the near future. He's
going to be our next "Machine Gun".

IN OTHER NEWS: Pictures have surfaced the Internet of my secret
life as one of Hitlers schoolers. I have no idea where they came
from.

Feb. 24, 2008 Busy week. We entered three boxers into the
Golden Gloves this year. Carlos Alvarez, Omar Mata and Tukundo
Adeiran. All thre
e scored a few wins in the tournament but were
unable to win "the gloves".

Overall it was a grea
t experience for everyone. We had one boxer
who finally came out of his "shell". Another boxer bonded with his
father do to this tournament and one
who found out what he'll need
to work
on in order to continue to improve.

The media was
right saying this is the biggest boxing tournament in
San Antonio but failed to mention it's not the most important. The
KING

Now that w
e got the Golden Gloves out of the way we'll begin
p
reparations to this year's Ringside World Championship
tournament. We'll do this by
keeping our boxers active even if it
means having to travel to boxing shows throughout Texas.

Feb. 21, 2008 BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.........

and the winner is, FROM RAMOS BOXING
TEAM.......

B
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.........

Feb. 20, 2008 As Ice Cube would say, "Today Was A Good Day"
Carlos Alvarez's teammates all came out to support him for his first
amateur boxing bout. He's come a long way since he first started
here. It's surprising how boxing can change a person for the better.
I've always believed boxing can be used as a springboard for bigger
and better things. This is something that's difficult to understand
unless you've been in a boxers position. Boxing is a two sided
sword though. It has the "power" to ruin lives as well.

Feb. 19, 2008 I guess I do have some loyal readers on this blog. I
got a "hate mail" response to my last blog a few minutes after I
posted it. This reader may want to use spell check next time. The
only word that was spelled correctly was, MOM.

Machine Gun Alvarez looks focus. Win, Lose or Draw this looks to
be a victory for Machine Gun.

Feb.18, 2008 It's been a slow year for our JO Boxers, not much
going on right now. The older guys have been training for the
Golden Gloves. Carlos Alvarez, Devin Brown and Omar Mata will all
fight in this years tournament. All should fare well. Carlos and Devin
both met their goals Saturday morning. Mata had to come in
Sunday night to meet his.

A few of you who've read my blog and sent comments (via
guestbook with no return email included, which usually means lack
of balls. ) have made a few retarded remarks. Most comments made
on this blog are backed up by facts  In most cases, usually just my
personal opinion. As you get older and grow a few hairs under you
chin I hope you realize that life is not a sprint, it's a marathon. Now,
you realizing this is a long shot. Which is expected. Children are a
reflection of their parents. A childs actions are a reflection of their
upbringing and their parents character. The best thing you can do
is run away from home and be raised by wild bore somewhere on
the outskirts of San Antonio. A wooded area. Away from the
population. I'm sure if you spend a few years out there you'll return
a better man. This might be a bit to much to ask of you. After all,
you're being raised by someone who doesn't mind having a beer in
one hand and some expensive "baby powder" in the other. Maybe
he can teach you how to sniff some between drinks?

Here's something to think about: "It's better to fall in the gym and
rise than lay lifeless in the center of the ring in a fight."  Take that to
yo momma!

Feb.13,2008 Lots of chingasos today at the gym. We had some life
changing type sparring today. Arroyo came out of his shell after
10+ years, Devin discovered why I've had him working on body
shots for that last month, Carlos Alvarez finally looked like an actual
boxer and Mata will try and get by on the simple fact that "he's
tough".

I'm convinced that boxing sometimes has nothing to do with
conditioning, technique, training, power, speed...etc. It's a "state of
mind", something Hector discovered before I did.

Devin, Carlos and Omar weighed in and registered for this years
Golden Gloves this past weekend. All three made weight and
continued training this week with hopes of actually fighting. The next
couple of days training will determine if they'll actually compete.
Sparring, drills, weight and "massages" will all play a factor in this
decision.

How am I doing this week Vedder?
Devin Brown 85%
Carlos Alvarez 65%
Omar Mata 20%

YESTERDAY Everyone wants to turn pro. Hector Ramos knows how
to walk a rooster on a leash.

Jan.20, 2008 New year, New blog. Things have been going pretty
good at the gym. We registered some new boxers for the current
year that should be having their first bouts in Feb. We've also got a
visit from a few boxers from other gyms. This has to be difficult for
the boxer, making the decision to leave one gym to go to another. I
personally experienced that a few times in my career and it was
always difficult, but it was the right decision at the time. The hardest
part of doing this is gathering your thoughts/courage to ask your
trainer/coach for your passbook, especially if it's a current one.
Nobody wants to re-register and cough up an extra 35 bucks. So
when I decided to start coaching I decided that ALL of my boxers
would keep their own passbooks. My boxers have and always will
have the green light to go train at any gym they'd like and not worry
about having to "ask" me for anything. A few boxers have done so
and have also returned. I've always been a fan of change. Change
is good for some. Specially when a coach and a parent don't agree
on certain things. I've always said I'd rather lose a boxer to another
gym than to have the boxer step into the ring unprepared. A boxer
who doesn't pay his dues in the gym and is allowed to step into the
ring (win or lose) is taught at an early age that shortcuts sometimes
offer rewards. These bad habits can destroy a persons life.
Amateur boxing takes hard work and dedication, no excuses! When
a child learns this at a young age he/she is taught than in order to
be successful one must dedication and work hard in order to be
successful. Not just in boxing, but in LIFE. This is a simple life
lesson that some parents (who are older than I) have yet to grasp.

As a coach I've come to terms that not all boxers I coach will win a
National title or become World Champions one day. Because of this
I have based my coaching and parenting skills on one thing. To not
only teach a boxer how to be a great boxer but to teach them
discipline. DISCIPLINE is the main ingredient to a successful human.
A successful human is better than a successful boxer. A successful
human can be an unsuccessful boxer and still live a good life but a
successful boxer is capable of being a unsuccessful human and fail
in life. Which has been the case many times. History speaks for
itself. Mike Tyson is the perfect example this.

In other news......Mike Ramos got a haircut and Machine Gun has
gained a few pounds.

Dec.5, 2007 The person updating this blog really needs to get his
shit together. I'm thinking it's just plain laziness. The older you get
the harder things get. I'm sure reaching for the mouse and opening
this page and taking 2 minutes to type this shit must really be hard
work. Ok.

Edgar Ibarra still thinks he sucks, but is actually pretty damn good.

Adrianna Vela's personal relationship with tacos has become a
problem. We'll have to seek Dr. Phil's services if this relationship
continues.

Paige Galvan has game.

Cresencio Ramos has moved on to a new phase of life. Being a
teenager.

Christian Santibanes sometimes trains like he'd rather be fishing.

Matt Suniga now has the freedom to have a mohawk.

Luis Nino's disappointment in Kansas might turn out to be a
blessing for the future. I think Diosito knows what he's doing. Don't
question him.

Richard Soto has come to terms that he's not Robocop.

Matt McCoy had a 60's hairdo two years ago.

Hector Ramos and Floyd Mayweather have something in common.

Mike Ramos looks focused.

Free chingasos now available.

When the going gets tough the tough gets going.... unless your last
name is Guajardo.

When the going gets tough they also get going.

August 28, 2007
Damn, I really need to start doing this more often. Our team is
looking good. We're all getting ready to travel to Houston on the 8th
of Sept. for a local boxing show there. We're also considering going
to Oxnard, Calif. again this year.

July 2, 2007
Damn, It's been almost 3 months since I've been "here". A lot is
going on at the gym. There's good putasos every Tuesday &
Thursday. We currently have about 11 boxers getting ready for the
Ringside Tournament this year. I'm estimating about 6 or 7 will
make it through our training and move on the Kansas with the team.

This past weekend the team went through a tough workout. Not one
boxer bitched or complained about it. Which is good, cause we still
have 4 weeks left. The next two weeks will be the "ball-checking"
weeks.

The chances of Mike and Hector fighting on the same card are
pretty good now. Hector should have his first professional fight in
the next couple of months. Mike will more than likely have his 2nd
fight later this month. Mike is still struggling a bit dedicating himself.
He goes through phases where he does really well then just falls off
the "wagon". But he's an adult now so he'll have to figure it out on
his own.

We have a few new guys at the gym that keep us entertained.
"Twinkie" is one of them. He has been "working out" 4 weeks now.
He's still just doing the "rookie" workout and has not hit the bag yet.
I plan on moving to the "advanced rookie" workout this week. We
also have a few MMA guys working out at the gym. It amazes me
how these guys take being in shape for granted. But it's a totally
different fighting style so I won't question it. But we all know the
saying,
"FATIGUE MAKES COWARDS OF MEN"
and this is true in all sports. There's also another older guy who we
call MOCO. He's like Mike too, but a bit more confused. He goes
through phases where he's doing fine then just falls off the wagon.
Unlike Mike, this guy lands flat on his face and usually takes a little
longer to get back on. But he's also an adult so he'll just have to
figure that out on his own. If they don't change I might be giving Dr.
Phil a call soon .......or Dr. Ruth. Is she still alive?

May 3, 2007 Well, things went pretty good at the JO's. We took 5 boxers and
three of them came back with gold. Eric, Adam & Cresencio. Matt fought a
more experienced boxer but still made it a fight. He did better than I expected.
Christian on the other hand didn't look to sharp. It's the worse I"ve seen him
since he's been here at the gym. But sometimes boxers need a wakeup call
like that, so I'm hoping this loss does him some good. Cresencio looked very
sharp. Best I've seen him in a long time. Adam did pretty good too. He won
outstanding boxer of the tournament so he impressed some people. We also
got a team trophy, 2nd place.

Mike seems to finally be getting his shit together. He's been improving
everyday. If he keeps up the same work ethic his abilities will finally come to
light. He can be a very good boxer when he wants to be when he's not
distracted by the little things that come with life.

I got called a kid today by some old man. It was weird hearing that. I have a
family, good paying job, my own home and I pay bills. I don't know to many
"kids" that can say the same, actually, some older "adults" can say that either.

Looks like our team will be busy for the next couple of months. We have quite a
few smokers here in South Texas. Add Hector at the US Championships, Mike
turning pro, the Ringside Tournament & PAL along with 20 registered boxers
and it doesn't give you time to do worry about much. I'm just hoping we don't
spread ourselves to thin.

April 22, 2007  I've had a rare case, (actually it's pretty common around here)
of weuevonitis
so haven't had much time to update the site. The JO guys have been working
hard
so I expect good things from all of them, except one. Well, things work in weird
ways
so I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up winning anyway.  Got a new kid out of
Dallas that
has been working out with us. If we're able to get rid of a few bad habits, he
has enough
talent to win a few national titles. We'll be leaving Friday morning to Corpus for
a 3 day
tournament.

Mike should be making his pro debut soon. Just got a call a few minutes ago
(it's 10:30pm)
about him fighting May 11 in Dallas. He's been looking good in sparring but
still lacks a bit of
discipline outside the gym. But most boxers do, so who knows what will
happen.

April 2 I'll be updating our YouTube account tonight with videos of this weeks
sparring.  A team from Dallas, Texas came down and brought 12 guys to spar
against our gym. This is what champions speak about, Gym Wars. Videos will
be
up by tonight.
March 6 Well the last couple of weeks have been a roller coaster. I hate roller
coasters.

Feb.14 Our training will be winding down this week. Jairo has made some
good changes lately. Looked great sparring against foes
from Team Azteca (Emilo Ledesma) and Zarazmora Street Gym
(Tony Ayala) Erika Pacheco has proved that some fancy pants
can fight. Mike Ramos & Reggie Trucheo were both "injured"
during training and will be missing this years Golden Gloves.
Adam Castillo & Billy Polson are both borderline to compete
at the GG. Both will be in action at the Air Force boxoffs; this
will be the deciding factor if they'll be competing at the GG.
Celina Salazar & Hector Ramos (both ranked nationally) have
proven once again to our team why they've reached elite
status in their respective weight divisions. HARD WORK & DEDICATION!
Despite some unsuspected speed-bumps
along the way they've both stepped up to the plate and have
adjusted. I expect good things from both of them. Both will
also be representing South Texas in March at the State
Tournament in El Paso, Tx.

"CHAMPIONS ADJUST, WHILE OTHERS COMPLAIN"

Feb.5
We'll be having some "tough" sparring this week.
Feb.4, Final week of  "heavy" training for this years GG. We'll be letting some
boxers
know they won't be able to compete this year before the week is over.
Boxers currently training for this years GG, Jeremy, Jairo, Adam, Celina, Erika,
Billy,
Reggie, Hector, Mike.
Jan. 13 - Saturday.  Took Hector, Celina, Jairo and Adam to spar  at
Zarzamora Street
Gym today. They all did really good. Celina showed all of the gym there that
looks can
be VERY deceiving. Hector allowed his sparring partner to stay on his feet all 3
rounds,
then sparred 2 rounds with Adam. Jairo, like always found a way to get through
another
opponents tight defense.  Next up for these guys is the Regional Golden
Gloves.

Hector is off to Colorado Springs for the Pan Am box-offs Monday.

Nov.9 Well, it's pretty frustrating finding out our Senior LBC's
will take place only 8 days from now. I received the newsletter
with the schedule today and was surprised to find out we're only a  week from
probably
the most important tournament our senior
boxers will have until the Olympics. It was originally schedule to
take place the first week of Dec. I guess when things change at
the  "white house" Mr. Bush keeps it to himself. I'm just thankful
our boxers stay in the shape.

Things at the gym been going good. Although we came back without a national
title from Oxnard, Calif. we all had a good time
and learned a "few" things along the way. Very good experience
for our boxers. Now we must prepare our youngsters for the State
Silver Gloves and our seniors for the LBC that lead to Colorado Springs. I think
all the guys enjoyed spending the day at Venice Beach.

Sept. 12 Well, we have all made arrangements to fly out to Oxnard. Should be
fun flying
out with the team for the first time. We've always drove but we figured it might
be best to
fly out this time. It will probably be the last time we do this.

There must a a Rocky marathon on TV or something.I received over 15 phone
calls today
from people who are interested in a "boxing workout". Most of them sound like
posers
but we'll see. Cordova and Cantinflas have been looking good in training and
sparring.
Bob is ready to fight but he still needs to work on his self confidence before he
starts to
compete. Cousin is finally improving AGAIN. Calambre still thinks he sucks,
but he's
actually decent.

Sept. 5 Today was just retarded. Plain fucken retarded.
Gym was full. Hector sparred 15-18 minutes straight.
Mike sparred Castro, Cantinflas sparred JJ, Christian and
Cresencio sparred 10 rounds. ..... shit, everyone sparred.
And some mensitos walked into the gym with their shoes
full of mud.. as soon as i find out who it was, they're going
to fucken spar too. You.. reading, fuck..show up.. you'll
spar too! EVERYONE IS GONNA FUCKEN SPAR!

Mon. Aug 19 I'm so damn lazy, it's been a month since
i wrote here. The gym has been really busy
in the last month or so. Hector is training for the
National pal tournament in Oxnard, Calif. and since
we're taking him I've decided to take a few other guys
not sure who, yet. Hector has been getting god sparring
he sparred against, Julio "Babyface" Garcia a few times
last week. Garcia just scored a 2nd round KO on the
Holyfield undercard this past weekend. It was good
sparing for Hector. He stayed on his toes and looked
sharp, often frustrating Garcia. Garcia still only 19
years old scored his 40th win. I was in Chicago
this past weekend, politics suck. The Kansas
trip was fun. Christian seemed pretty happy
having his mom there, I'm sure it helped motivate him
during his bouts. He's never looks this "fearless" during
his fights.

I'll post here again on Tuesday and let you know
how sparring went.

Mon. July 17 Well, we had a VERY good fundrasier this
year. The best ever. Hector is finally out of the USAF so
this means we'll be gong to different gyms to get some
good sparring. The last couple of months have been
REALLY busy here at the gym. We have a few guys who
travel 20+ miles to the gym everyday. A few of the rookies
have potential to make boxing a hobby. We'll see. Once they
feel the first chingaso we'll know. Tomorrow we have boxers
from Castillo's gym stopping by to spar, on Wed. some guys
from Zarazamora will be here. Should be fun! Sparring and
training in 105+ degree weather!  What's up with the "Virgin Mary"
sightings? On pan, rocks, towels.. they need to chill... shes's
dead!

Oh yeah, if incest is illegal... . . why wasn't Adam or Eve arrested?

Mon. July 3. It's been a really shitty year for amateur boxing here in
San Antonio. Nobody is having any shows. We'll be traveling to
Houston (another LBC) this weekend to a smoker before the
Ringside tournament. Do you believe in ghosts? No? You should
come to work with me one day, or night.
tue. June 21 There must be a Rocky marathon on TV, these last two
days the gym has been packed! It's still a little to early to see if any of
these new guys have any sort of potential. We'll see who's here on Friday.
May 31 Nice little workout today. Kevin & Cousin will be registered
soon and will travel with the team. Jairo sparred at Calderon today. Jairo's
new found BOXING skills helped him. Turned to his counter-punching
skills Jairo nailed his sparring partner with a perfect left hook that
immediately called a halt to the sparring session. Nice confidence booster
for him leading to next weeks State tournament.
Thursday May 11. Toning it down a bit at the gym now. Hector
is in Canada probably 10 pounds overweight thanks to some
home cooked flour tortillas. He should do well up there. He had
some good sparring and decent training here. Jairo, Eric, Christian
and Cresencio are looking good. All seem ready for the JO's.
Cresencio needed a wake up call during today sparring session
with Christian. After that he did pretty good, started looking like
vintage Ramos. Christian showed some fire during the sparring,
I was impressed. Cousin has been doing better. He's a 6 foot
133 pound monster at the age of 13. He has all the physical tools
to be a boxer. Once he gains some more confidence and if he
continues to improve he might be boxing before the years over.
SPURS in 6. I predicted after the first game if they lost the 2nd game
they'd win int in 6, if they went up 2-0 they'd need all 7 games.
They're like some of the boxers here in the gym, they need a good
kick in that ass so they can wake up!
