Martinez scores narrow win at Black Tie event!
March 30, 2007
Jairo Martinez managed to score a razor thin victory over a very game Adrian Martinez of Zarzamora Street
Gym. Each boxer had it's moments scoring with solid combinations in all three rounds. Jairos determination
and busy hands helped him score the narrow 3-2 split decision.
It was obvious from the opening bell that Jairo was not his usual self. Was it the smokey conditions? Adrian's
illegal beard? The ref's demand to keep silent while punching? Having to box on a school night? The funny
bow-ties the refs were wearing? Nope! Just an bad day. It was definitely and off day for Jairo last night, but
it's always a good day when you manage to win on an off night.

Ramos shines at JO Tournament; Santibanes disappoints!
April 31, 2007
Cresencio Ramos scored two very impressive victories to earn gold at this years JO tournament. Ramos showed the
patience & ring generalship of an open boxer to outclass Ramiro Valdez, Brownsville & Javier Saldivar, San Marcos.
It was clear after the opening bell in both bouts that Ramos was in a league of his own. Some judges credited the
opponents landing no more than 5 punches throughout the bout. Ramos could have also easily won the Outstanding
Boxer of the tournament, an award that was given to his teammate, Adam Lopez.
Christian Santibanes showed very little desire to win in his bout vs Zach Martinez of Austin. Santibanes will need to
make some major changes if he plans to continue to box. Gaining 5 pounds in less than a week and forgetting your
boxing attire while traveling to a tournament will not produce victories.
Matt Suniga traveled to Corpus Christi knowing he'd face boxers with much more experience. Suniga met up with
Joey Pessina of Angels Boxing Club on the first night of competiton. Despite being matched against a boxer with 15
bouts Suniga gave it his all and made the bout interesting. Suniga lost a 5-0 decision but proved that he has the
talent & heart to compete in the sport.
Ramos Boxing Team picked up the 2nd place Team trophy.
