TEAM USA GRABS EIGHT WINS IN
CANADA

(COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.) – Eight United States boxers made the annual trek to Regina,
Saskatchewan, Canada for the annual Ken Goff Classic and Mayor’s Cup, May 12-14. The Ken Goff
Classic is in its 13th year as an annual fundraiser for the Regina Boxing Club and pits eight of Canada’s
top boxers against the United States.

Featherweight Luis Del Valle (Newburgh, N.Y.) made the most of his trip north by grabbing two victories at
the Ken Goff Classic on May 12 and the Mayor’s Cup on May 14. Del Valle took on Canada’s Arash
Usmanee in both bouts and won a 46-36 decision in the first match-up before winning a 30-25 bout in their
second match-up. Del Valle was one of four U.S. boxers to win contests at the Mayor’s Cup held at the
Regina Exhibition Auditorium. Team Captain Hector Ramos (San Antonio, Texas) recorded a 28-18
decision over Jonathon Bochner of Canada in their light welterweight battle while middleweight Shawn
Estrada (E. Los Angeles, Calif.) won a third round stoppage over Canada’s Richard Reitte in their second
bout of the week. Heavyweight James Zimmerman (San Jose, Calif.) avenged his earlier 19-16 loss to
Canada’ Sebastien Lalumiere, winning a 34-20 contest in their second match-up.

Del Valle wasn’t the only U.S. boxer to win his first match-up of the event as lightweight Terence Crawford
(Omaha, Neb.) grabbed his first international win with a 12-9 decision over Ibrahim Kamal on May 12 at the
Ken Goff Classic. The event was the first international event for Crawford who is coming off a second round
finish at the 2006 National Golden Gloves in his hometown of Omaha.

In addition to the five victors, bantamweight Zachelus Watkins (Atlanta, Ga.) joined the team as a last
minute replacement in Canada. Welterweight Peter Haro (Inglewood, Calif.) and super heavyweight Jonte
Willis (Tacoma, Wash.) completed the eight athlete United States delegation. Willis won a walkover victory
on the second day of competition due to an injury to his opponent.

Martinez off to State Tournament!
May 21, 2006 - Austin, Texas.

Jairo Martinez continued his impressive ways in the finals of this years Junior Olympics. Cresencio came
up short in his bid to repeat as South Tx. Champion.

Overall our team (Jairo Martinez, Eric Guajardo, Christian Santibanes & Cresncio Ramos) fared well,
picking up 3 golds and 1 silver.

Cresencio Ramos vs Jon Baladez Montopolis - Austin, Texas. Jon seemed very motivated during this
bout. He stayed agressive throughout the bout winning the first two rounds convincingly. Sensing he was
behind Ramos applied pressure and had a big third round but the lead had grown out of reach.

Jairo Martinez vs Israel Balderas Garcia's Boxing Gym - McAllen, Texas. With the winner off to the State
Tournament in Houston next month both boxers looked to be on a mission from the opening bell. Balderas
came out swinging trying to tie Babe Ruths home run record but came up short in the 9th inning. Israel  had
a big first round and stayed sharp for the first half of the bout. Martinez commitment to body shots paid off in
the final round as Balderas looked to be out on his feet on a few occasions. Martinez ended the bout with
sharp 5-6 punch combinations that had Balderas flying all over the ring.

With the win Martinez earned a spot on the South Tx. State Team that will travel to Alvin, Texas in June. The
top 6 boxers from the State of Tx. will represent each Tx. LBC.

into finals.
May 20, 2006 - Austin, Texas.

Cresencio Ramos vs Mario Barios, Eastside Boys and Girls Club - San Antonio, Texas. . The
more these guys box against each other the more competitive it gets. Great bout, lots of
punches, close decision. Cresencio will meet Jon Baladez in the finals on Sunday. Jon scored a
2nd round TKO over Jimmy Watters of Puro Gallo - Corpus Christi, Texas on Saturday.

Jairo Martinez vs Luis Mena - Mission, Texas. Jairo used his condition and aggressiveness  to
wear down the always "entertaining" Mena. Known more for his taunting than his conditioning
Mena had no answer for Jairo's constant pressure. Referee Art Souza finally stepped in to give
Mena an eight count in the final round. Mena spit out his mouthpiece on purpose to extend the
count. After being warned Mena put on the best 12 second display of machismo known on this
side of the Mississippi! After his final hurrah (all 12 seconds of it) Jairo picked up where he left
off before the extended break and finished off the abuse. Jairo will meet Israel Balderas of
McAllen in the Championship fight on Sunday.
Santibanes wins shoot-out!
May 19, 2006. - Austin, Texas.

Our J.O. Boxers, Christian Santibanes, Cresencio Ramos, Eric Guajardo & Jairo Martinez will
all have a chance to repeat as JO Champions in Austin, Texas this weekend. Christian
Santibanes won his 2nd South Tx. JO Championship on Friday with a exciting win over the
hometown favorite Michael Baladez. Cresencio Ramos & Jairo Martinez will be in action
Saturday.

Christian Santibanes vs Michael Baladez. Christian was VERY impressive this time around.
It was an old fashion type shoot-out in all three rounds. Christian's conditioning allowed him to
pick up the pace in the third and final round to score the win over Baladez.
