Ramos drops tie-breaker to
Canadian!
May 12, 2006

Ramos dropped a VERY close decision to Toronto's Jonathon Bochner at the Ken Goff
Memorial Boxing Classic in Regina, Saskatchewan  After being warned twice for holding
Ramos was penalized 2 points in the final round. The warnings cost him the bout as he went on
to lose the 17-17 tiebreaker. These two boxers will meet once again on Sunday.

Last year Ramos went on to split a pair of wins with Kevin Beizer of Canada. Winning the first
fight 30-27 then losing the second bout by one point, 19-18.
Ramos excited to take part in
Classic again this year

Published: Friday, May 12, 2006

Hector Ramos has been through all of the glitz and glamour that makes the Ken Goff Memorial
Boxing Classic different from other boxing cards.

Ramos, who was a member of Team USA during last year's event, enjoyed every aspect of the
dual match between the United States and Canada's senior men's boxing team.

"I love it,'' said Ramos, who hails from San Antonio, Tex., and is back for this year's card. "We're
boxers and we're performers. We like giving the people a good show. When you bring the lights,
the cameras and all of the people together, it's a tremendous show.''

The 13th edition of the annual fundraiser for the Regina Boxing Club goes today, 8 p.m., at the
Conexus Arts Centre. Ramos, who beat Kevin Bizier of St. Emile, Que., in his debut in last year's
card, is scheduled to box Toronto's Jonathon Bochner in a 64 kilogram match.

"I'm happy to be here representing the United States in an amazing event,'' Ramos, 24, said. "I
couldn't ask for anything better.''

Ramos represents the United States on two fronts. He's also a jet engine mechanic with the United
States Air Force. He works on C-5 cargo planes.

Melancholy on I-35 S!
April 22, 2006 - New Braunfels, Tx.

Cresencio Ramos was the lone victor in New Braunfels, Texas Saturday afternoon. Christian Santibanes brought
back a pretty face & Maria "Lita" Sauceda brought home her first medal, a silver one.

Cresencio Ramos vs Mario Barios of San Antonio - Eastside Boys & Girls Club. This was a rematch of a bout at
last years State Silver Gloves. Once again Cresencio got off to a slow start as Mario came out swinging hoping to
hit an early  home run. Ramos withstood the early aggression and earned the hard fought victory.

Christian Santibanes vs Jon Baladez, Austin, Texas - Montopolis. Christian's tight defense made this another
close one. Christians defense was at an all times best (ala Spurs) but the offense was a bit stagnant (ala Kings).
Jon stayed aggressive throughout the bout and scored enough shots to earn the victory.

Maria "Lita" Sauceda vs Cheyanne Salazar- This was Lita's 2nd time weighing in at the boxing show and was on
the verge of tears when notified no opponent could be found. She'd have to go home empty handed once again,
but not without a fight! Coach Lita decided to work some majic and found an opponent for herself, Cheyanne
Salazar of San Antonio - Calderon. If gold medals were given out on effort alone Lita would have earned dozens
already. Lita had to settle for a silver medal this time around. It was evident from the get-go that this would be no
easy task for Lita. Given another foot in height Lita would have been able to see her opponent eye-to-eye and
maybe we would have had a different outcome. Lita found out what Ron Artest did Saturday afternoon; that they'd
both have to rebound from heartbreaking loses if they'd plan to "move-on". Cheyanne won via 2nd round RSC.

All J.O. boxers will be traveling to Kingsville, Texas next week in their final tune-up before the J.O. Tournament in
Austin. I'd also like to take this time to thank my English III teacher Mrs. Jackson for giving me the definition to the
word, "Melancholy" after 11 years I've finally used it. THANKS MRS.JACKSON! (mamona)
Martinez scores victory in
Monterrey.
April 16, 2006 - Monterrey, N.L.

Raul Martinez scored a ten round unanimous decision (97-93 on all three cards) over the #6 ranked boxer
in Mexico, Adalbeto Davila. Listed  as 9-7-2-6 KO's in the US, this crafty boxer had a record of 29-8 in
Mexico. Martinez hurt his right hand on Davila's mug two minutes into the first round. The hometown
boxer used his experience and survived a ten round pummeling. Davila put on a masterful display on the
use of his head throughout the bout, literally. After being hurt by Martinez's body shots in the early rounds
Davila begin to counter with a headbutt each time Martinez tried to work the body. In the 4th round a
headbutt opened a deep gash over Martinez's right eyebrow.

Martinez had Davila on the verge of a KO on several occasions throughout the bout but was unable to
finish him off. In the 10th and final round Martinez badly hurt Davila with a minute remaining. Davila
wobbled to his corner after the final bell.

It is highly doubtful that Martinez will be fully recovered for his scheduled bout vs Alex Becerra in June.

Making the trip to Monterrey with Raul was Arturo Ramos & Alexis Camacho(from Monterrey now training
in Austin with Raul). A big THANK YOU to Alexis Camacho's mom and sister Maggie for providing us with
a place to stay. After our first night in Monterrey the promoter provided us with a hotel but we were unable
to part ways with home cooked meals and liquados. "Julio" and his "girlfriend" also provided us with
some laughter on our trip back, THANKS JULIO!
Travis boxer ready to take on

Senior airman Hector Ramos will join the Air Force's World Class Athlete Program with a focus on the 2008 Olympics.

* to all you who didn't bother (Jairo) to click on the "see full story" link in the story below (Ramos to make pro debut)
you probably still think Hector will be making his pro debut, he's not. It was just a little April fools joke. The real story
with details on Hector's future was  published on the front page of
THE REPORTER.com Vacaville, Calif.   You may also see the story in our "Out team in the News" link above.

By Derek Wilson/Sports Writer - April 2, 2006

Senior airman Hector Ramos has earned his ticket home - but he's not ready to leave the U.S. Air Force
just yet. He has some unfinished business to take care of.  Ramos is proud to be the first member of his
family to serve in the military, though being stationed at Travis Air Force Base far away from his family in
Texas, has at times been hard on the 24-year-old. Now, he'll get a chance to be closer to home after
extending his commitment to the Air Force for another two years. Officials enticed Ramos to extend his
tenure with an offer he couldn't refuse. Ramos is expecting to be transferred to San Antonio as part of the
Air Force's World Class Athlete Program while he prepares to compete for a spot on the 2008 U.S.
Olympic boxing squad. The program takes select servicemen and women and puts them in an
environment to train for elite  competition, such as the Olympic Games. The program includes training for
track and field, judo and other competitive sports.

Homecourt advantage for JO
Boxers - Santibanes & Ramos.
March 18, 2006 - San Antonio, Texas

Although we took 6 boxers to Ft. Sam Houston - San Antonio, Texas only two were matched. The six boxers who represented our
team were: Lita Sauceda - 96lbs / Christian Santibanes 68lbs / Cresencio Ramos 72lbs / Jairo Martinez 122lbs / Billy Polson
198lbs / Eric Guajardo

Both boxers took advantage of homecourt by resting at home before their bouts while others had to kill time for the late start at 6pm.

Christian Santibanes - won a coin toss vs John Baladez, older brother of Michael Baladez of Montopolis Rec. Center (Austin,
Texas). Christian's tight defense might have been the deciding factor in the outcome. Both boxers traded punches in all three
rounds with Christian landing the crisp straight shots to John's looping hooks. Its was Christians 2nd win in the past 7 days.

Cresencio Ramos - took on Israel Villarreal of Davalos Boxing Club of Laredo, Texas. Same opponent Christian defeated last
week. Israel put on a good show and never showed fear boxing against the boxer with more experience. It was Israel's 13th bout;
Cresencio's 36th.

Hector Ramos scored 13-12   win over Michael Dallas of Bakersfield, California on Tuesday,
March 7 in the preliminary rounds in Colorado Springs, CO.. His next bout on Wednesday, March 8
- Quarterfinals was not any easier. He drew 2005 National Golden Gloves Champion,  #6 ranked
welterweight (152lbs) in the country, Brad Solomon, Douglasville, GA. Solomon defeated #1
ranked welterweight Demetrius Andrade, Providence, R.I. to capture the title at the 2005 National
Golden Gloves. He dropped down to 141lbs for the US Championships. Ramos was down by 1

Ramos wins 3rd Armed Forces
Title!
Feb. 10, 2006 - Ventura, Calif.

Hector Ramos won his 3rd Armed Forces title in 4 years at the expense of the #6 ranked boxer
in the nation, Eric Canales of the Marines. It was Canales who denied Ramos to win his 3rd
consecutive title last year. Ramos later avenged that loss at the 2005 US Championships and
again Friday night. Friday nights bout  ended a little different that the first two bouts. Not wanting
to leave the decision in the hands of the judges Ramos came out on a mission. He pressured his
opponent throughout the bout landing power shots at will; by the end of the 1st round it was
obvious this bout would not go the distance.

After three rounds Canales was unable to answer the bell and Hector was declared the victor
via RET- 4th round.

Hector's next stop will be the US Championships in Colorado Springs, Co.. He will enter
the tournament ranked #3 in the nation.

2006 Regional Golden Gloves
Feb. 26, 2006

Celina Salazar FIRST open tournament turned gold. Fresh from winning the Ringside National
Tournament (15-16 / 125lbs) she added the Regional Golden Gloves title to her resume. It was
no easy task. Still a high school junior boxing against women in their mid 20's the difference in
strength was noticeable.  Usually the aggressor, Celina outpointed both opponents. Celina
outworked  Tiffany Stewart (2005 Golden Gloves Champion) on the first night & Trinity
Benavides (2005 Golden Gloves runner-up) in the finals.

Jesse Santibanes drew Mike Rios (2003 Golden Gloves Champion) the first night. Jesse cruised
to an easy victory over the former GG champ. The finals pitted Jesse against  Jonthan Gover
(ranked #2 in the nation by USA Boxing - usaboxing.org). Although Jesse would drop the
nationally ranked boxer in the 2nd round with a solid right hand it was a barrage of body
punches in the 3rd round that wore Jesse down. Jonathan scored the victory via 3rd - RSC.

Adam Castillo - still only 16 years old (Somerset High School - Junior) he drew two time
Golden Gloves champion Joseph Rios ... 24 years old! Adam put up a great fight but came
out on the short end losing a 4-1 decision to old grandpa Rios. NOTE: Adam was announced
the winner but the decision was later changed due to a clerical error.

Hector Ramos - had an easy time stopping Fernando Diaz in the 2nd round. It was a rematch
of last years Golden Gloves finals. Same result, just a bit faster this time. Hector Ramos is
ranked #4 in the nation by USA BOXING - usaboxing.org.

Ramos drops decision in

March 11, 2006.

Karl Dargan successfully defended his National Title vs Hector Ramos winning a 11-5 decicion over
the San Antonio native. It was the same point spread as last years semi-final victory for Dargan. A
replay of this chess match should be replayed in the coming weeks.

For the 2nd year in a row Ramos will be a member of USA BOXING ELITE TEAM. Ramos will also be
a member of the USAF World Athlete Program until 2008.
Martinez, Santibanes victorious in Corpus!
March 11, 2006

Jairo Martinez had to overcome a tough first round from Omar Rojas of Kingsville, Texas to earn his victory. The
shorter, heavier Rojas applied the pressure from the opening bell. Jairo's solid body punches took it's toll as Rojas
showed signs of fatigue (you can also credit some of the fatigue to the 100+ degree weather inside the
gymnasium.) in the 2nd & 3rd round. It was the first bout of the year for Jairo.

Christian Santibanes got off to a slow start today. After wiping the sand out of his eyes in the first round
Santibanes cruised to an easy victory over the taller Angel Villarreal of Davalos Boxing Team - Laredo, Texas.

Our team will be in action new week at Ft. Sam Houston. Weigh-ins 8-10 - call for more info.

Boxers competing at Ft. Sam - San Antonio, Texas

Christian Santibanes 65lbs - Cresencio Ramos 70lbs  Jairo Martinez 119lbs - Billy Polson 200lbs
